Dear diary,
I pounded on the door to the air-raid shelter.I was terrified.Bombs were exploding everywhere. When the door finally opened,Herr Resch was standing there, looking down at me.I crept into the airlockof the shelter on all fours.Herr Resch bellowed at me to get out.He didn't allow me to enter the shelter for being a Jew.He even took advantage of his position as air-raid warden by telling everyone who allowe me to enter follow his orders,if not, they will be reported to the Reichstag.I had no choice but to leave the shelter.Outside,I could still hear the whistling sound of the falling bombs and the rushing sound of the incendiary bombs. It was terrifying.

Yours sincerely,
FRIEDRICH

Dear diary,
today,I was almost sent to a concentration camp for illegally going to the movies. If I were to have been found there ,I'll be sent to the camp!It was a very close call for me.Since I was bored and the war restricted most other entertainment, movies were the most important amusement left.
I was waiting for Ryder outside a soap store. After being reprimanded in the Hitler Youth for consorting with a Jew,Ryder and me only met at places where we were unlikely to meet people we knew.
I was enjoying my comfortable seat in the cinema and waiting for the lights to go out when suddenly, the big ceiling lights went on and all teenagers were to have their ID's ready for a check.I started to panic when Ryder asked me what was wrong.
Ryder didn't know that t was hiding something from him and when I told him that we Jews are no longer allowed to see movies anymore,it was too late for me as the usherette was approaching towards me.

Yours sincerely,
FRIEDRICH

Dear diary,
I just came back from a swim with Ryder(the narrator). Before going,we met outside the town where the woods began and then cycled together to the swimming pool.
I rode my shining new bicycle while Ryder rode the bicycle his motherhad loaned him.We sang songs on the way to the forest pool. When we were singing the songs,I let go of my handlebars and my bicycle swung from outside of the road to the other.
We reached the forest swimming pool a quarter of an hour later. After our bikes were chained to a tree,we got undressed, handed in our belongings and received tags with numbers in exchange.I tied mine to my ankle and jumped into the water.Ryder took a shower first before carefully going down the stairs into the water and swam after me.
We played until late afternoon, past our time.Ryder and me were going to collect our belongings when i couldn't find my tag.I ran back and dived to the bottom of the pool to find my tag but to no avail.
I joined the line with the other boys. When it was my turn,I told the attendant what had happened and he scolded me for losing the tag.But he allowed me to come to the other side of the counter to search for my things.
When he discovered that i was a Jew,he threw my belongings across the counter and they scattered in all directions.I wish i could just punch the attendant but it seems that i was outnumbered by racist.
I was denied access to the changing rooms and I had no choice but to change in the woods. But my luck did not change when I was accused of stealing a bicycle.

Yours Sincerely,
FRIEDRICH
